March 9, 2026 - Petition Signature Collection Initiated

Collection of signatures for the New Section Petition for the Lone Star Section was initiated.

March 30, 2026 - Petition Submitted to ANS Headquarters

The New Section Petition for the Lone Star Section was formally submitted to ANS Headquarters.

March 31, 2026 - Rules & Bylaws Submitted for Review

The final draft of the Lone Star Section Rules and Bylaws was provided to the ANS Bylaws and Rules Committee.

April 18, 2026 - Rules & Bylaws Approved by Bylaws and Rules Committee

After minor revisions, the Lone Star Section Rules and Bylaws were approved by the ANS Bylaws and Rules Committee and forwarded to the Local Sections Committee.

May 28, 2026 - Local Sections Committee Approval

Following review of the petition and the approved Rules and Bylaws, the ANS Local Sections Committee voted to approve the petition and forwarded their recommendation to the ANS Board of Directors.

June 4, 2026 - ANS Board of Directors Approval

The ANS Board of Directors voted to officially approve the formation of the Lone Star Section of the American Nuclear Society.

June 15, 2026 - Lone Star Section Website Launched

The first version of the Lone Star Section website was opened to the public to provide information about the Section, its organizational status, and upcoming steps in establishing leadership and statewide engagement.
